Monday--Auto talk:The Application of LED Car Lights

LED car lights are the latest trend in the illumination of cars both as functional lights and décor ones. Functional LED car lights are installed by factories more frequently and in a growing range. The first application of factory-installed LED car lights happened in 2008 in a Lexus LS 600h / LS 600h L model, and their application has been growing ever since. An even wider range of after-market lights is also available for individuals who wish to switch for LED car lighting. These light bulbs are available in a wide range of colours sizes and fittings. Nearly all existing car lights can be replaced with LED equivalents, and several guidelines can help you change the bulbs yourself. Some DIY skill will be necessary though, to access the lights within the car.
The advantages of LED car lights are numerous. LED car lights have the advantage of immediate start-up, and very long lifespan. Good quality LED lights can have a lifespan up to 50 000 hours, so you might change your car sooner than you change the lights in it again. Their design is often more flexible, since they are available with various beam angles. The durability is also impressive of the LEDs compared to filaments that can easily break, these lights are resistant to shake and indoor LED lights are often brighter than factory-installed lights, and let's not forget about the fact that LED lights are the greenest solution of lighting available on the market.
What you have to pay attention to when you apply after-market LED car lights is that LEDs are sensitive to heat, and operation in a high temperature can shorten their lifespan. Therefore it is not advised to use them next to a headlight for instance, which emits a large amount of heat. LED replacements have the advantage of very low power consumption - one of the reasons why they are worth using. However, plenty of new car constructions include an indicator for bulbs, and due to the low resistance of the LED bulbs, it might show that the bulb has gone. To fix this problem and get a valid indication you need to use a resistor kit included in the system.
Besides the commonly used parking lamps, tail and stop lights, turn signals, daytime running lamps, and festoon lights, LEDs are often used for decorating cars both inside and outside the car. Additional lighting can be added within the car with 12V LED solutions, as most LEDs can be operated with batteries. A common and diverse form of decoration is the LED strip light available in the full spectrum of colours. RGB LED strip lights allow a whole new range of decorating your car, changing and varying its colour as often as you wish. LED strips - available in fully waterproof version - allowing external decoration of the car on any side, strips fixed openly on the body of the car. Here is your chance to create a unique look for your car and save some power on the way.

LED Lighting Are Popular in Everett Elementary School

The Everett School District has led LED revolution. James Monroe Elementary is believed to be the first public school to go almost entirely LED.

Schools are seeing LEDs in a whole new light. Many teachers at the school say the LED light is a "warmer light," better for teaching and learning. One kindergarten teacher said she no longer needs her reading glasses in the classroom.

Although LEDs cost more at the front end, administrators say they will make up for it in energy and replacement costs.  www.bgocled.com

Lighting with Luminaries

Saving energy has become one of the prime concerns of residential and commercial building owners. Apart from reducing the electricity bills, various practices to save energy contribute in maintaining environmental balance. Various energy efficient equipments play a significant role in this direction.
The fact that lighting accounts for 25-30% of the residential and up to 50% of commercial electricity consumptions encourages people to use CFL lamps, luminaries and other energy efficient equipments. If you have a store selling such devices, you must know that the following lighting equipments are getting popular among the building owners.
Lighting equipments that are fast replacing the traditional incandescent lamps are the compact fluorescent lamps or CFL lamps. These are highly energy efficient and serve for longer, thereby adding to the cost benefits for the users. Apart from homes and offices, these lights have also become popular for driveway and garden area lighting.
Used for lighting up wider areas, the high intensity discharge (HID) lamps are highly efficient. This is because these lamps utilize maximum amount of electrical energy to produce more light and less heat. This fact makes them much more preferable to the traditional halogen based lamps. Apart from HID lamps, HID burners and ballasts are also popular among the buyers.
Just like CFL lamps and HID lighting equipments, LED lights have also gained popularity as equipments that contribute towards energy saving. About 80% of the electrical energy used by these equipments is converted to light which is indeed a commendable advantage over traditional lighting equipments. Moreover, these equipments have long life; available in variety of colors and designs and contribute towards overall cost saving. According to a 2010 survey, luminaries claimed more than 70% of the total lighting equipment share in the European markets. Apart from being energy efficient, these equipments are admired for being manufactured from recyclable materials. Various types of luminaries popular among the buyers include task luminaries, decorative luminaries, recessed wall luminaries and linear luminaries.
Apart from CFL lamps and luminaries, there are lighting controls that have emerged as wonderful energy saving equipments for various applications. Lighting control systems have embedded processors that allow the control of various lights in a building from one source. These systems are widely used in theaters, interiors and exterior security purposes and landscape lighting as well. Dimming and turning off the light equipments according to the need is easy and rewarding with these systems. Apart from contributing towards energy efficiency, these systems also help in reducing carbon emission and promoting longer bulb life.
Varieties of other fluorescent lamps, apart from CFL lamps, are used for achieving energy efficiency. These include inductive fluorescent lamps and low mercury fluorescent lamps. Energy efficient blasts, including dimming electronic blasts, instant start ballasts and rapid start blasts are other useful energy efficient equipments used for lighting purposes.

LED Lighting Regulation in 2012

The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 put many changes into motion for the lighting industry. The most significant change is a required 25 percent increase in the energy efficiency of light bulbs. Since manufacturers are currently unable to increase incandescent bulb efficiency by such a large percentage, the end result is essentially the phased elimination of this type of bulb.

In January of 2012, the manufacture of 100-watt incandescent light bulbs that fail to meet the new efficiency standard will be prohibited by law. In January of 2013, the scope of the law will increase to include 75-watt bulbs, and in January of 2014, 60-watt and 40-watt incandescent bulbs also become subject to the regulation.

The use of compact fluorescent bulbs and LED bulbs will increase dramatically as incandescent technology is phased out. Both of these technologies are more energy efficient than incandescent lighting, but fluorescent bulbs contain mercury vapor. This could result in disposal issues as the bulbs become more widely used.

LED lights operate on solid state semiconductor technology. They do not contain mercury, but the thin semiconductor films do make use of toxic metals such as gallium, arsenic, indium, and germanium. These materials are present in minute quantities, and LEDs have a much greater life expectancy than typical fluorescent bulbs. LED bulbs designed to replace incandescent lights contain multiple LEDs in a bulb-like housing that will screw into any standard E27 socket. LEDinside is an excellent resource for current information on warm white LED lighting.

The LED industry has been aware of the impending change for some time, and LED lighting technology has been improved to produce brighter and more natural light each year. An offshoot of the development has been an increased use of LED technology in the automotive industry. LEDs in braking lights have become commonplace, and LED headlamps can also be purchased.

Additional LED vehicle lighting is available as aftermarket enhancement. Valve stem spinner lights and various ground effect lights have become popular aftermarket modifications, and many states have implemented statutes to limit their use. Some states argue that these modifications are distracting and lead to accidents. Others are concerned that, depending upon the color and placement of the LEDs, the lights could cause conventional vehicles to be confused with public safety vehicles at night.

Most states have laws prohibiting the use of flashing, spinning, or stroboscopic lighting. Some states prohibit the use of specific colors of lights, such as blue, whether they flash or are lit continuously. All states generally prohibit the use of red lights anywhere except the rear of the vehicle.

These statutes have become contentious issues for motorcycle enthusiasts. Motorcyclists argue that LED accent lighting enhances their visibility to other motorists and reduces the risk of collisions. For information on usage trends for LED lighting, consult LEDinside, but for the legal requirements on the lighting for any motor vehicle, always consult the statutes of the specific state.

We always devote our efforts to give you the best service and the most competitive price . Hope everyone can devote a little to protect our Earth. www.bgocled.com

Incandescent light bulb phaseout begins

The nation's light bulbs begin facing new efficiency and labeling standards starting Jan. 1, but don't expect old-fashioned incandescents to suddenly disappear from store shelves. The congressionally mandated efficiency standards gradually phase out Thomas Edison's 131-year-old creation in favor of other light bulbs that use at least 25% less energy. The first to go, beginning Sunday, is the traditional 100-watt, followed in January 2013 with the 75-watt version and in January 2014 with the 40-watt and 60-watt bulbs.

Thanks for Thomas Edison .However we pay more attention to energy saving and enviromental protection. www.bgocled.com

The Controversy on New Light Bulbs Rules

As new year is dawning near, the new law on phasing out the 100-watt bulbs is to take effect, however, some Southwest Floridians prefer the incandescent bulbs.

A law passed in 2007 says manufacturers must phase out the 100-watt bulbs in 2012, or make them much more energy-efficient.  The government would like people to use the compact flourescent lights, CFL's, or LEDs

Different people have different opinions. According to Jack Lurie of Tropical Hardware in Fort Myers, "They see light bulbs as an investment. They just want to screw in a bulb and they want light."  He said people are stock-piling the old incandescents, for fear of not being able to buy them in the future.

"I don't like it one bit. If they have a new product, then put it out there and let us decide whether to buy it. But don't tell us, you have to do this. That is government intrusion," said Patty Eppler of Fort Myers. "I prefer the incandescents and I will stay with them as long as I can."
Donna Croddy of Lee Lighting told WINK News: it is time for a change to a better technology than incandescents.  "That is a 135-year-old technology. It's time. God bless Thomas Edison, but it's time."

We BgocLED,inc always insist in environmental protection and energy saving, if you are the same ,you can check http://www.bgocled.com/ for more details.

LED Christmas Lights Retrofit in Rebpublic Street, Victoria

Republic Street, Victoria has gotten LED makeover for a new set of Christmas Lights taken by the Ministry for Gozo, through the National and Regional Celebrations Committee.
It will be spread over three years and the designs were selected after a public call made by the Ministry. The entire project consists of fourteen light valances, with the first seven up this year.

All lights used in these designs are LED and each valance consumes only about 750 watts, in line with the eco-Gozo project.

"This means that when all the lighting has been completed its consumption would amount in total to less than one light made up with conventional bulbs." The Ministry said.

The second and third phase of the decorative lighting of Republic Street will continue to near the Villa Rundle gardens and will also be increased around the local streets.

How to Decorate Your Christmas Tree Like a Professional Designer

Would you like to have an elegant designer Christmas tree this year? See the steps below for instructions on how to decorate your Christmas tree in a professional manner, just as an interior designer would.

1) Decide on the overall color scheme that you would like to use on your Christmas tree. It could be all green, red & gold, red & silver, pink & white, aqua & turquoise, or any other color combination that you like. The color scheme you select for your Christmas tree should compliment the color scheme of the room your tree is going into. Consider using some of the non traditional designer ornament colors available this year, such as bronze, peacock blue, plum, sage green, and navy, to give your Christmas tree an updated designer look.

2) Decide if you want to have a theme, such as angels, nutcrackers, snowflakes, shoes, or any other theme. Having a theme for your Christmas tree is optional.

3) Shop for Christmas ornaments, garland, feathers, florals, ribbon, beads, and any other designer items that are in your color scheme. Make sure the ornaments and other trimmings you select are over sized and larger than standard ornaments to get a professional designer look. Multi-pack Christmas ornaments work great because they are usually less expensive, but purchase different styles of multi-pack ornaments so not all the ornaments look exactly alike. You can get multi-packs at hardware stores, craft stores, discount stores, and online. 10 large Christmas ornaments per foot height of tree works well. Consider using natural elements to decorate you Christmas tree with, such as pine cones, grapevine, or twigs. You can also decorate using artificial natural elements such as ornaments made to look like birds or butterflies and artificial greenery such as poinsettia and magnolia flowers.

4) Before decorating your Christmas tree with ornaments, you should put your Christmas lights on your tree. Use either clear or white for a professional designer look. Make sure you put the lights on evenly around your Christmas tree, both towards the trunk and the outside of the tree. 100 mini lights per foot of tree is suggested. If you have a 6' tree, you should use 600 lights or 6 strands with 100 lights per strand.

5) After the lights are on and you have checked to make sure they are all working properly, add the garlands, florals, ribbons, and any decoration that is not an ornament to your Christmas tree. There are many designer ways to add garlands or ribbon to your tree. One option is to add the garlands or ribbon running from the top to the bottom, tucking the garland or ribbon into the tree about every 2 foot. Another option is to run garlands or ribbon in a circle around the outside of the tree like a barber's pole. A third option is to run the garlands or ribbon in a circle just around the tree trunk, which works well with grapevine.

6) Next, decorate the Christmas tree with your new ornaments in the designer color scheme you have selected. Make sure to attach those ornaments evenly over the tree and periodically step back and look at your decorating progress. Keep putting the ornaments on evenly until you run out. Larger ornaments look best towards the bottom of your tree and your smaller ornaments look best towards the top of your tree.

7) Now it is time to decorate your Christmas tree using your family ornaments. You can decorate using a craft your child made in school, an ornament from your last vacation, or any other sentimental Christmas ornament. Christmas trees should be filled with memories, so consider purchasing a new ornament each year for your Christmas tree to remind you of something special. Your yearly ornament could be a small ornament photo frame with a photo of your children with Santa.

8) A tree topper finishes off the Christmas tree decorations. The tree topper could be a traditional star, Santa, a fancy designer bow, an angel, or anything else that will top off your tree.

9) For extra professional designer flair, color coordinate your Christmas gift wrap to your Christmas tree's color scheme. You can use multiple colors, textures, and patterns of paper and ribbon in your color scheme. Simple brown craft paper used as wrapping paper with a fancy bow is always a designer favorite.

How to Decorate a Christmas Tree

Christmas Tree Decorating Traditions
During the Christmas season it's wonderful to pass houses with majestic trees in the living room window all decked out in lights, garlands, and ornaments. Putting decorations on a Christmas tree is a time-honored tradition for most households, although Christmas tree decorating as we know it now didn't gain popularity in America until the late 19th century. Early decorations were mostly homemade ornaments and brightly dyedpopcorn garlands, but today's decorations include everything from souvenir ornaments to vinyl records and -- of course -- lots of twinkling lights. Not sure how you want to decorate? Follow our three easy steps for decorating the perfect Christmas tree.

Step 1: Hang Christmas Tree Lights
The first step in decorating a Christmas tree is adding the lights. Tree lights typically come on green or white wire strands; choose the strand that matches your tree so the wire will be hidden. Illuminating your Christmas tree from the inside out will give it the most dynamic look. Start at the base of the trunk and work your way up, wrapping lights around every major branch, moving from the trunk to the tip and back.
Here are four popular types of lights to choose from when decorating your Christmas tree.
Traditional incandescent lights: These Christmas tree lights, which come in a variety of sizes and colors, are the most popular type of tree lights. They warm up the branches of a real tree, which will release the scent of pine into the room.
LED Lights: These Christmas tree lights are newer than the traditional incandescent lights and don't produce heat. They're typically more expensive, but are flameproof and fireproof and completely safe to put on your tree.
Globe lights: These Christmas tree lights are round and come in many sizes. They look like balls of color on the tree, and while they have a softer glow than mini lights, the light they produce covers a larger area on the tree.
Bubble lights: These retro lights stand straight up on the limbs of your Christmas tree. When the liquid tube on top of the light warms up, bubbles will float up and down inside the tube, resembling lava lamps.
Experiment with different lighting schemes until you find one you like -- it's okay to mix and match lights. For example, a background of white or clear lights can be highlighted with strands of colored lights that wrap the outer areas of the tree.
Editor's Tip: Don't skimp on lights -- for every vertical foot of tree, you should use a strand of 100 lights.

Christmas Tree Decorations

Thinking of Christmas, Christmas tree decorations instantly comes to your mind. This is only natural, as a Christmas tree, Yule tree or holiday tree is one of the major traditions associated with the Christmas. A tree is an evergreen coniferous tree. This tree is brought to the house on Christmas and decorated with lights and colorful ornaments. Image of an angel or a star, often kept at the top of the tree, adds to the splendor of tree decorations.

Christmas Tree Ornaments:

A Christmas tree is generally decorated with tinsel and different types of garland or ribbon. Painted colored glass forms an important component of Christmas ornaments used to decorate the tree. Lighting of the tree is commonly done using candles or electric lights LED creating the charm of fairy lights. A tree topper gives the decoration a complete look. The tinsels simulate the icicles. Another common form of decoration is the baubles. These are hollow glass or plastic sphere coated with a thin metallic layer. The metallic layer makes the baubles reflective.

Though glass is still the most popular style of ornament used to decorate the tree, plastic ornaments have gained a lot of popularity in the recent times. Its popularity is attributed to the facts that it is more durable and can resemble almost anything. Plastic ornaments include the cartoon character ornaments, moving or animated ornaments and those that light up.

Other popular ornament choices include wood and pewter. Wooden ornaments appear fine with trees with a country theme. Pewter ornaments give the tree a sophisticated look. The shades of the pewter ornaments can be matched with the color of the garland to give the tree an elegant look. Though primarily used on the Christmas tree, Christmas ornaments are gradually being used in a wider manner.

For example, a wreath of these ornaments can decorate the front door on a festive occasion. They can also form an attractive centerpiece when kept in a bowl. They can be used in combination with the garland for decoration.

Individual Christmas Tree Decoration:

Individual decoration of the tree is done based on personal taste and family traditions. Some people even decorate outdoor trees with food stuff. Popcorn, oranges, cranberries are used as decoration items to give a treat to the birds and the wildlife.

Creative ideas can give a personal touch to Christmas tree decoration. For example, Doves can be hung from the ceiling and placed on the tree to create the great effect that the doves are decorating the tree. A Christmas tree can be prepared out of sugar plum candy to make them both look and taste marvelous! trees can also be placed throughout the house, instead of keeping it in one place only, to spread the joy of Christmas all over the house.

Professional Christmas Tree Decoration:

Professional designers generally choose a theme while decorating a tree for a department store or a similar institution. Large decorations, multiple instances of using ornaments and predominant colors mark such decorations. Trees are used for decoration by some churches. Handmade ornaments are used to decorate them.

Mats and Skirts for the Christmas Tree:

A mat or skirt was at times placed on the floor below the tree to catch the dripping candle wax and needles that may fall. This was more common until electric bulbs came into use. However, even after electric bulbs came about, tree mats and skirts continued to be used as a decorative feature. It has now become highly ornate and often has embroidery on it. The major purpose it serves now is hiding the tree stand, which though not pleasant to the sight, is yet an indispensable safety feature.

Flocking the Christmas Tree:

The tree is often sprayed with fluffy white flocking to simulate the snow. It is generally spread all over the tree from the sides either through a home flocking kit or by a professional sprayer. The flocks contain flame retardants. So, they can be safely used in public places in accordance with the local fire codes.

Christmas Trees:

Fir is the species most commonly used for decoration. They have good foliage color and scent. Moreover, they generally do not shed their needles when they dry out.

The trees generally used in northern Europe include:
  1. Silver Fir
  2. Noble Fir
  3. Nordmann Fir
  4. Serbian Spruce
  5. Norway Spruce
  6. Stone Pine
  7. Scots Pine
  8. Swiss Pine
The ones most commonly used in North America, Central America and South America include:
  1. Fraser Fir
  2. Balsam Fir
  3. Guatemalan Fir
  4. Grand Fir
  5. Red Fir
  6. Noble Fir
  7. Scots Pine
  8. Jeffrey Pine
  9. Norfolk Island Pine
  10. Stone Pine

Artificial Trees Used for Christmas Decoration:

The rising popularity of artificial trees can be attributed to their features of being convenient, tidy and cheaper than the real ones. These trees come in a number of colors and varieties. Some are also pre-decorated with lights. After the Christmas these trees can be disassembled and stored conveniently. Some other benefits of using these trees are they can protect from a fire danger that is more likely with a real tree and also help in reducing the cutting down of real trees.

Designer Trees Used for Christmas Decoration

Metallic trees were the first artificial trees which were not green. Made of aluminium attached to metal rods, these trees were supported on wooden or aluminium central poles. Some of these trees were made with inflammable aluminium-coated paper, which created a fire hazard. At present tinsel trees are used extensively. These are prepared with flame retardant materials. Some artificial trees are also made from glass, cardboard and plastic. These are generally used as tabletop decorations.

Outdoor trees made of heavy white-enameled steel wires have become popular in the US in recent times. Another variety that has become popular is the spiral type that hangs from a central pole.

Some indoor trees are lit partly or fully by fibre optics. This includes a light in the base and a rotating color wheel causing various colors to shimmer across the tree.
